Army said – Currently 1 lakh Agniveer enrolled in the army

So far 1 lakh Agniveer have been inducted into the Indian Army. This information was given by AG Lieutenant General C.B. Ponnappa gave on Sunday. He said that 70 thousand firefighters have been posted in the units. About 200 women are also included in these. He also informed that 50 thousand vacancies have been created for the year 2024-25. Its process is going on.

Ponnappa said that the scheme was launched in June 2022. We had the first batch, which was recruited between December 2022 and January 2023. They are performing very well.

Agniveer is also working like normal soldiers

Lieutenant General Ponnappa said that these Agniveer are performing all types of operational and professional duties in the same way as any other soldier. According to him, these Agniveer have completely merged into their respective units. He wears the same uniform and performs the same duties as other soldiers.

10% reservation for former firefighters in CISF, BSF

Two years after the Central Government’s decision on Agniveer, CISF and BSF on July 11 announced to give 10% reservation to former Agniveer. Preparations have been started for this. The rules will be implemented soon.

BSF DG Nitin Aggarwal and CISF DG Neena Singh gave this information. In fact, on June 18, 2022, the Home Ministry had issued a notification in this regard. It was said that 10% reservation will be given to former firefighters in CAPF and Assam Rifles. BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB and CISF armed forces come under CAPF.

The government had launched the Agneepath Scheme in 2022. Under this, youth are recruited on contract for four years in the Army, Navy and Air Force. Six months of training is also included in 4 years. After four years, Agniveer will be given rating on the basis of his efficiency. On the basis of this merit, 25% of Agniveers will be taken into permanent service. The rest will return to the civilian world.

In this scheme, soldiers below officer rank will be recruited. That means their rank will be as Personal Below Officer Rank i.e. PBOR. The rank of these soldiers will be different from the current appointment of commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers in the army. Recruitment will be done through rallies twice a year.
