The Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 2024 is a golden opportunity for Indian citizens, both men and women, to join the Indian Air Force as Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers in Flying and Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) branches.

The online application window for AFCAT 2024 opens in May 2024. Online registration starts on 30 May 2024, and the last date to complete the application registration is 28 June 2024. The organization will fill up 304 vacancies in this recruitment drive.

AFCAT 2024 Vacancies – Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification Required

  • Flying Branch:
    • Minimum of 50% marks in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level.
    • Graduation (three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • BE/B Tech degree (four years course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
  • Ground Duty (Technical) Branch:
    • Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics): Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks.
    • Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical): Minimum of 50% marks each in Physics and Maths at 10+2 level and a four-year degree in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • Ground Duty (Non-Technical) Branch:
    • Administration & Logistics: Graduation (three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent.
    • Accounts Branch: B. Com degree or equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks.
    • Education: Post-graduation with 50% marks and Graduation with a minimum of 60% marks.
    • Meteorology: B.Sc. with Physics and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% marks or four-year Graduation in Engineering/Technology with a minimum of 60% marks.

Age Limit

  • Flying Branch: 20 to 24 years as of January 1, 2025 (Born between January 2, 2002, and January 1, 2006). The upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable for up to 26 years.
  • Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical) Branch: 20 to 26 years as of January 1, 2025 (Born between January 2, 2000, and January 1, 2006).

Selection Process

The selection process for AFCAT 2024 involves a written examination followed by the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB) testing for those who qualify. The final merit list is prepared based on the combined written examination and AFSB testing performance.

Written Examination

The AFCAT written examination consists of objective-type questions covering General Awareness, Verbal Ability in English, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Test. The exam duration is two hours, and the maximum marks are 300.

AFSB Testing

Candidates who qualify in the written examination will be called for AFSB testing, which includes:

  1. Stage-I: Officer Intelligence Rating Test along with Picture Perception and Discussion Test.
  2. Stage-II: Psychological test, Group Tests, and Interview.
  3. For Flying Branch: Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS).

Application Fee

Candidates are required to pay ₹550/- as an application fee while submitting an online application form. The fee payment can be done online using a Credit Card, Debit Card or Internet Banking.

  3. Fill in the necessary details to create a login ID and password.
  4. Log in with the registered email ID and system-generated password.
  5. Fill in the application form with personal, educational, and course preference details.
  6. Upload the required documents (photograph, signature, thumb impression).
  7. Select the examination city.
  8. Make the payment of ₹550/- + GST (non-refundable) for AFCAT entry.
  9. Download and print the application form for future reference.
