The Railway Recruitment Cell (RRC), North Central Railway (NCR), has issued a notification for the recruitment of Apprentices for 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates seeking apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act of 1961. The notification, Zonal No. RRC/NCR/Act. Apprentice 01/2024 was officially released on September 14, 2024.

The online application process opened on September 16, 2024, and will close on October 15, 2024. The recruitment aims to fill 1,679 apprentice slots in various divisions, including Prayagraj, Agra, Jhansi, and the Jhansi Workshop. Apprentices will receive training in trades like Fitter, Welder, Carpenter, Electrician, Machinist, and more.

Selected candidates will undergo training as Act Apprentices for a period of one year. During this time, they will be paid a stipend as per the rules and regulations set by the concerned State Governments.

NCR Apprentice Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Act Apprentice post must have completed their 10th standard (SSC/Matriculation) or an equivalent examination under the 10+2 system with at least 50% marks in aggregate. In addition, candidates must hold a valid ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an NCVT or SCVT-recognized institute.

Apprentice Age Limit

As of 15th October 2024, the applicant’s age should be between 15 and 24 years. However, there is a relaxation in the upper age limit for reserved categories. SC/ST candidates get a 5-year relaxation, OBC candidates receive 3 years, and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) get an additional 10 years.

NCR Registration Fee

The application fee for General and OBC candidates is ₹100, which is non-refundable, while candidates belonging to SC, ST, PWD, and women categories are exempted from paying any fee. Payment can be made through the integrated payment gateway using a Debit Card, Credit Card, or Internet Banking during the online application process.

North Central Railway Apprentice Selection Process

The selection process is simple and entirely merit-based. The merit list will be compiled by considering the average percentage of marks obtained in both the Matriculation exam (50%) and the ITI examination (50%). In the event of a tie-in mark, preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age. If both candidates share the same age, the one who passed the Matriculation exam earlier will be prioritized. Importantly, there will be no written test or interview for this recruitment. Candidates who are shortlisted based on the merit list will be invited for document verification, and the final selection will be confirmed upon successful verification of their documents.
