The West Bengal Public Service Commission will conduct the written exam for the Clerkship in the upcoming days. The exam date announcement is awaited from the WBPSC.

Candidates should note that the WBPSC Clerkship Admit Card will be available on the official WBPSC website at least a week before the scheduled exam date. The Admit Card will be available online on the official website.

The official notification for this recruitment was released on December 4, 2023. Interested candidates were invited to submit their applications online starting December 8, 2023. The last date to apply was December 29, 2023.

The Clerkship (Part-I) Examination, 2023 is scheduled to take place on November 16 and 17. Additionally, the W.B.C.S. (Executive) etc. (Preliminary) Examination, 2024 will be held on December 15, 2024.

Selection Procedure for WBPSC Clerkship Recruitment 2024

Preliminary Exam- This is the first screening stage. It is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based test. It is a filtering stage to identify candidates with the basic qualifications necessary for clerical roles. Candidates need to score above certain makes to qualify for the next stage.

Main Exam- Unlike the Preliminary Exam, the Main Exam consists of conventional-type questions. This stage is divided into two groups:

  • Group A (English): This section involves more in-depth questions on the English language and literature, focusing on essay writing, précis writing, translation from the native language to English, etc.
  • Group B (Regional Language): Candidates can choose Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Nepali, or Santali. This section assesses the candidate’s proficiency in the chosen regional language, including translation, essay writing, and comprehension.

Candidates must pass this stage to be eligible for the final selection round.

Typing and Computer Proficiency Test evaluates the candidate’s typing speed and accuracy, which are critical for documentation and data entry tasks in clerical jobs. This is generally a qualifying test, which means the candidates are required to reach a certain standard of proficiency, but the scores might not contribute to the final ranking.

Exam Schedule- The dates for both the Preliminary and Main exams will be declared on the official WBPSC website. Regularly check the WBPSC website to keep yourself updated, and any notification regarding it will also be updated on this website as well

  • Candidates qualifying in Part I are eligible for Part II.
  • Part- I has 100 MCQs, each worth one mark.
  • For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • The time given to complete the exam is 1 hour 30 minutes.
