WBPSC MSRE Selection Process
The selection process comprises several stages:
- Preliminary Examination: This initial phase is a qualifying exam to shortlist candidates for the main exam. It includes 100 multiple-choice questions, divided into General Studies (75 questions) and Arithmetic (25 questions). The exam duration is 1 hour and 30 minutes, with each correct answer awarding 2 marks.
- Main Examination: Qualifying candidates from the prelims will undertake the main examination, which is more comprehensive and carries a higher weightage in the final selection. This examination will be conducted for a total of 450 marks.
- Personality Test: Following the main examination, candidates will be invited for a personality test and document verification, accounting for 100 marks.
The final merit list will consider the combined scores from the main examination and the personality test, totalling 550 marks.
