Allah Ghazanfar Biography 

Born on July 15, 2007, Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is an Afghan cricket player who has represented the Pakistan Junior League’s Rawalpindi Raiders and the Afghan Shpageeza Cricket League’s Mis Ainak Knights. 

Ghazanfar is an Afghani native from the Paktia Province. He was a resident of Kabul in 2022 and had five older brothers. The Kolkata Knight Riders contracted Ghazanfar in March 2024 to play for the team in the Indian Premier League in place of Mujeeb Ur Rahman. His height is 6 feet 2 inches.

Allah Ghazanfar Early Career

Ghazanfar started playing as a fast bowler. Previous Afghanistan captain Dawlat Ahmadzai trained him how to spin a bowl, and today he is an off-spinner who bowls finger spin.

His bowling style has drawn comparisons to that of Afghan international Mujeeb Zadran, in addition to working with the Afghanistan national under-19 cricket team, Ghazanfar practices at the Mirza Mohammad Katawazai Cricket Centre in Kabul.

Ghazanfar is a member of the Afghan Shpageeza Cricket League’s Mis Ainak Knights team. He claimed 4 wickets in his second professional match after taking 1/27 in four overs on his debut. He participated in the Pakistan Junior League in 2022 as a player for the Rawalpindi Raiders, one of 12 foreign players in the league.

Rising Career of Ghazanfar 

Although he was listed in the draft for the Big Bash League season of 2022–2023, he was not chosen. For the Nepal T20 League’s first season, he was a member of the Far Western United squad

Ghazanfar was put up for auction in the Indian Premier League 2023 at the tender age of 15. At the time of the auction that year, he was the youngest individual to be entered, and his starting price was 2,000,000 rupees. In the auction, he was not bid on.

Ghazanfar participated in the Green Afghanistan One Day Cup in 2023 as a player for Junior Champions, a group made up of members of the Afghanistan under-19 national team.

He was one of the fifteen players on Afghanistan’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup squad. He grabbed three wickets in the match when he faced the Kiwis for just twenty-nine runs.

  • Ghazanfar was part of the Junior Champions team (comprising representatives from the Afghanistan under-19 national team) in the Green Afghanistan One Day Cup in 2023.

  • At the age of 15, Ghazanfar entered the auction for the 2023 Indian Premier League. Although he was the youngest player in the auction, he went unsold despite his base price of 2,000,000 rupees.
  • However, his talent was noticed. In March 2024, he was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders to play in the 2024 IPL as a replacement for Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
