RRB JE Eligibility Criteria 2024
To apply for recruitment of Junior Engineer in Indian Railways, one must meet certain eligibility criteria in terms of educational qualification and age limit. You can go through the listed points to check the educational qualification and age limit.
Educational Qualification:
- Junior Engineer (JE): A candidate must possess a Diploma or Degree in Engineering or relevant disciplines from a recognized university or institution.
- Depot Material Superintendent (DMS): Candidates applying for this position should have a Diploma or Degree in Engineering from any discipline.
- Junior Engineer (Information Technology): Candidates need to have completed PGDCA/B.Sc. (Computer Science)/BCA/B.Tech (IT)/B.Tech (Computer Science)/DOEACC B level course of 3 years duration or equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
- Chemical & Metallurgical Assistant: Aspiring candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized university or institution.
Age Limit:
- A candidate at least have turned 18 years old, and the applicant’s age must not exceed 33 years.
- There will be upper age relaxation for 3 years for OBC, 5 years for SC/ST, and 10 years for persons with Benchmark Disability.

RRB JE Selection Process 2024
Selection process for recruitment of JE and other posts in the Indian Railways consists three stages, which are CBT-1, CBT-2, Document Verification and Medical Examination. Get the detailed information regarding each from below.
CBT-1:
- Candidates who will apply for recruitment of JE in the Indian Railways will be called for the CBT-1, which is likely to be administered by the last quarter of 2024.
- In the CBT-1, a total number 100 objective-type questions will be asked from different sections, each will be of 1 mark with a provision of negative marking of ⅓ marks. The time duration will be 90 minutes, and the medium of the exam is English & Hindi.
CBT-2:
- Candidates who clear the Computer Based Test – 1 will be called for CBT-2, each one needs to know that it will take place two-three months after the CBT-1, likely in the first quarter of 2025.
- A total 150 MCQs of each other 1 mark, incase of incorrect response ⅓ mark will be deducted. The time duration of the exam will be 120 minutes, and the medium of the exam will be the same as CBT-1.
Document Verification & Medical Examination:
- Aspirants who will clear the CBT-2, will be called for the Document Verification & Medical Examination, and the final selection list will be prepared.
