The Indian Coast Guard (ICG), under the Ministry of Defence, is set to conduct the Computer-Based Examination for the posts of Navik (General Duty) and Yantrik (Electrical, Mechanical & Electronics) through the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT) for the 01/2025 batch. This examination will occur in September 2024 at various test venues nationwide.

Candidates must pass this recruitment drive’s CBT and other selection phases to be appointed as a Navik (GD) & Yantrik at ICG Departments. The application process for this recruitment drive started on 13 June 2024, and the last date to apply for this recruitment drive was 10 July 2024, which was extended from 03 July 2024. The ICG announced a total of 320 vacancies, where 260 posts will be for Navik (General Duty), and 60 posts will be for Yantrik (Electronics, Electricals & Mechanicals) positions. Many candidates have submitted their applications to secure a position in ICG’s various vacancies.

ICG Navik (GD) – Selection Mode

The selection process for the Indian Coast Guard GD includes multiple stages to ensure only the most qualified candidates are selected. Here is a detailed breakdown of the selection process:

Stage I: Computer-Based Examination (CBE)

  • Document Verification: Basic verification of candidate details against the application.
  • Biometric Recording: Capture of left thumb biometric.
  • Written Test: This test is organised to check the candidates’ basic eligibility and knowledge which will be tested through multiple-choice questions in various subjects.

Stage II: Physical Fitness Test (PFT)

Candidates who qualify for Stage I will proceed to Stage II, which includes the physical fitness test and adaptability assessment.

  • Assessment and Adaptability Test: Qualifying in nature.
  • Physical Fitness Test: Includes a 1.6 km run, 20 squat-ups, and 10 push-ups.

Stage III: Document Verification and Final Medicals

This stage involves thorough document verification and a final recruitment medical examination of candidates who have cleared the previous stages.

  • Final Recruitment Medicals: Conducted at INS Chilka.

Stage IV: Training

Selected candidates will undergo training at INS Chilka, sea and professional training in their allotted trade.

  2. Now, click on “Join ICG as Enrolled Personnel CGEPT”.
  3. A new page will be open on the screen.
  4. You can see the link to download the “ICG Navik & Yatrik Admit Card”.
  5. Click on the given link and use your registered email ID and password to log in.
  6. Now, click on the download link of the admit card.
  7. After downloading, take a coloured printout of the admit card for exam appearance.
